Home Ownership

I know it’s been quite a while since my last update, but it’s been for a good cause: future home ownership. That’s right, we are finally going through the rigorous processes required to purchase a home. To put it succinctly; it ain’t fun.
The keys to the house are sort of like the proverbial carrot on a stick. Right now we’re jumping through hoops and running laps, or whatever the hell else you do to obtain carrots on sticks. There’s also the added bonus of a few of those hoops having been doused with gasoline and lit on fire by what is called an FHA loan.
Beyond actually getting through the mountains of paperwork that will inevitably sign away our first born, and possible our souls, we have to move out of the personal hell we call our apartment. It’s more than just a matter of moving our belongings from place to place. If only it were that easy. We will have easily a day or twos worth of work devoted to cleaning the apartment. I wouldn’t be surprised if we didn’t get our deposit back. (Not that we’re necessarily slobs; we just have zero motivation to do anything involving the apartment that we’ve come to despise with a searing passion not unlike the heat of a thousand white-hot suns.)
With any luck our efforts will be worth the reward. We’ve been very fortunate so far to have some fantastic people working with us on our loan documents and a couple of really swell realtors helping us along.
Here’s to having a new home for the holidays!
